Working with the Capital Component

The following guide outlines working with the Capital Component in MinuteBox. Adding or editing the Capital Component of any Entity will automatically be reflected in the various Entity Views. This guide demonstrates some commonly used Views involving Capital.

  1. Entity Information Summary
  2. Ledgers & Registers
  3. Ownership Charts

Step One - Create or open an Entity.

Let's get started in an entity. We're using Ace Alice Holdings Inc.

(2) Authorize a Class of Shares

Head to the Capital section of the Entity Information Summary.

We'll authorize and issue some shares to:

(a) Alice Winters who is an Individual and to
(b) Ace Alice Canada Inc., a Corporation.

2(a) Issue shares to an Individual

The result looks like this:

(i) When viewed from the Entity Information Summary

(ii) When viewed from the Ledgers & Registers

(iii) When viewed from the Ownership Chart

MinuteBox makes it easy to generate ownership charts automatically based on your entity data. Ownership charts are created directly from the share capital of an entity.

2(b) Issue shares to a Corporation

The steps to issuing shares to a Corporation are the same as above subject to one caveat:

To have a Corporation properly display in your Ownership Chart, you'll want to ensure that corporate entity is added as an entity to your MinuteBox account first. This is because our Ownership Charts are specially designed to connect to other Entities.

If the Entity you'd like to issue shares to does not already exist and you'd like it to properly reflect in your Ownership Chart, we'd recommend first going to create a new Entity (like Ace Alice Canada Inc. below). Not doing so will result in the creation of a new Person record that will, by default, be an Individual. Read this helpful Guide on Ownership Charts with Corporations / Trusts for more information

If the Entity already exists, you may select the entity name when issuing shares to the Corporation. Take for example, Ace Alice Canada Inc. is an already existing Entity in your account (and available from your Dashboard).

(ii) When viewed from the Ledgers & Registers

(iii) When viewed from the Ownership Chart

Tip! You can jump between Entities by simply clicking on the Entity name from the Ownership Chart View.
