Multi Factor Authentication

Refer to the definition of multi factor authentication here. MinuteBox operates with multi factor authentication to ensure our customers have end-to-end security. Multi factor authentication works with any device that supports the process such as a smartphone or tablet. To enable and disable multi factor authentication navigate to the Settings screen by clicking on the … on the top right of the screen and follow the steps below.

Enable Multi Factor Authentication from the Settings screen:

  1. Click Security from the menu on the left of the screen.
  2. Navigate to the Multi Factor Authentication area of the security settings.
  3. Click the Click to Enable button and follow the instructions on the screen.
  4. Download an authenticator app to your phone and then click Next below.
  5. Open your authenticator app and use it to scan the barcode below.
  6. Enter the code from your authenticator app in the box below and click Verify below.

Disable Multi Factor Authentication from the Settings screen: 

  1. Click Security from the menu on the left of the screen.
  2. Navigate to the Multi Factor Authentication area of the security settings.
  3. Click the Click to Disable button and follow the instructions on the screen.
  4. A prompt will ask you to confirm whether you want to disable two factor authentication. Click Confirm.

Mandated Multi Factor Authentication

Administrators can mandate that users enable multi factor authentication prior to having access to their MinuteBox account. If a user tries to log in to their account without first enabling multi factor authentication, they will be asked to set up multi factor authentication on their account by following the steps on screen. 

Hardware Key or Biometric Authentication

Enable hardware key or biometric authentication to secure account

From the Settings screen:

  1. Click Security from the menu on the left of the screen.
  2. Navigate to the Hardware or Biometric authentication area of the security settings.
  3. Click the Add button and follow the instructions on the screen.

Note: For hardware key authentication you will need to have a supported hardware key. MinuteBox recommends a YubiKey from Yubico.

For biometric key authentication you will need to have supported hardware such as an Apple laptop with TouchID or a Windows computer with Windows Hello.

Remove a hardware key or biometric authentication to secure account

From the Settings screen:

  1. Click Security from the menu on the left of the screen.
  2. Navigate to the Hardware or Biometric authentication area of the security settings.
  3. Click the Remove button for the hardware or biometric key you want to remove.

Adding additional hardware or biometric keys for authentication

You can secure your account with multiple hardware or biometric keys for authentication.

From the Settings screen:

  1. Click Security from the menu on the left of the screen.
  2. Navigate to the Hardware or Biometric authentication area of the security settings.
  3. Click the Add button and follow the instructions on the screen.

Test a hardware key or biometric authentication on your account

  4. Follow the prompts on the screen to test your hardware or biometric key.
